Indian Institute of Management, Raipur
At IIM Raipur, the masterplan began with a question: how do you design a campus that comes alive across all 24 hours of the day? The vision reimagines the institute not as a closed academic enclave but as a small, inclusive city — layered with spaces for social, cultural, and intellectual exchange, and built to hold interaction long after the last class ends.
Landscape is the central instrument of this transformation — a regenerative approach that draws from traditional Indian water systems and reinterprets them for a contemporary campus. Contour swales, khadins, kunds, and johads are layered into the site to manage water, support groundwater recharge, and respond to the natural topography.
An ecological habitat mosaic — lush vegetation, ephemeral pools, soil-rich zones, exposed rock, and small water bodies — creates a range of microclimates that support biodiversity and shape a resilient, adaptive landscape. The campus becomes a small living city, designed to evolve.
